Collages of a mind

Franziska Nagelová is a great admirer of nature and travels a lot. During years of photographing she established a huge archive of pictures. She shows how our digital technologies are evolving and influencing her kind of photography.

This project is a hybrid project - a mixture of three techniques. Analog Photography, Collage and the influence of digital media. She questions digital media with her techniques in this project. Such as the scan process into digital pictures of different scanners during the years vs. the analog 35mm film which provides very high quality. Or that digital software is providing a different possibility to make layers of pictures but still are printed as one layer at the end.

In each work, those whole objects are a metaphor for a change of perspective. For example, as during the years a human mind collects many memories, most of them are repetitive. Nevertheless, each memory is strong, fading or just neutral but still in our mind. We are also always remembering only parts of the memories, or the stronger memories are ‘over the layer’ of another memory in our mind etc. So all in all, if we change the perspective and look at our memories from another perspective, then we can see the wholeness.

Collages of a mind is an ongoing project depending on the motifs the author is supplementing together into one piece of art. This project was also exhibited in Vienna from May,2022-August,2022.
